Aunti Oni's fun loving storytelling style is a literary treat! Listen anytime, on your favorite podcast app in your car, kitchen or before bedtime! Hear delightful classic and modern tales from the works of storytellers and poets!
Listen up! to this adventurous podcast of original and traditional stories for children, featuring the 7 principles of Kwanzaa.
Kwanzaa was created by Dr. Karenga in 1966 to teach values and history for the cultural consciousness of Africans in America.
Aunti Oni made her debut telling world famous stories on this Webby award winning podcast.
As Miss JoJo's American cousin, Aunti Oni re-tells the Anansi story,
Why Spiders Live on the Ceilings in episode #7. Episode 8 Aesop's Rabbit & Turtle race and episode 9 is the crisis management tale; 3 Fish In A Pond, all in a fun storytelling style.
In 2008 Professor Nikki Giovanni, Author and Poet invited Oni Lasana to rap Paul Dunbar's "We Wear The Mask" in this award winning beautifully illustrated audio book.
Be prepared in all you do...a special message for me & you!
Let's sing hello in different languages!
Ity's Bitsy Spider has a name, ANANSI...yep, Anansi fell down but...he stops crying and keeps on trying!
I am because we are!
An original song I wrote for our youngsters to appreciate diversity.
A original song on the origin of Aesop to sing-along!
"Aunti Oni's gentle, laugh filled voice is an aural delight. Her storytelling gifts shine as she artfully take other's writings or folktales and weaves them into new quilts. Gather your family together, even on your individual device, and share in the magic of Aunti Oni's Storytelling"
Skywalker Payne, Storyteller
"I listened to Peace & War this morning and your telling of that moral message was incredible. What a blessing that the world is able to access and enjoy these stories for free. Thank you."
When I was 10 years old my mother gifted me with a pink radio/recorder with a little microphone. My friend, Jackie Dias' and I would holler sing and crack jokes into the microphone in my kitchen during, Philly, PA cold winter months. In the summer we'd hit the block signifying and joking on the mic with our friends.
We loved recording everyone's voices, rewinding the tape listening to our silliness and laughing till our bellies hurt. Hearing our voices on the playbacks was such a thrill, making up stories, songs and playing the dozens.
As an adult, over the years I worked, played (volunteered) and honed my passion for radio production and hosting programs, from national non-profit public radio, local commercial stints and international online radio. It was my special calling to promote and interview gifted talents in my communities from the west to east coast of USA.
OUT OF THE BLUE....
JUNE 2020, podcast entrepreneur Anthony Frasier of ABF Creative, Inc. was appreciating the creative energy popping off my website. Anthony reached out and asked me to voice a few stories as Miss JoJo's American cousin, for his children's series of podcasts, African Folktales.
What would be my "handle" my "brand" why not Auntie or Aunty? British or American? Aunti is International....crossing all borders... and I'm also known at Tobago Library Services, on the island of Tobago as Aunti Oni.
In spite of years dealing with asthma and now hiding from, but living with the Covid Creative Crazies, locked down in my artist sanctuary, (use to be my children's playroom;-) I wrote & edited my favorite stories, voiced them in all the silly voices inside of me and "Aunti Oni" debuted September 2020 in episodes 7, 8 & 9 of African Folktales.
Anthony Frasier, motivated me to creatively check myself and gave me a wonderful producer Wanda Reynolds and dope engineer DJ King Canal to carry me through. A gifted and generous storyteller, Michelle Washington Wilson of New Jersey, lifted me up in co-writing two original Kwanzaa stories.
In December 2020, "Kwanzaa Time with Aunti Oni." was produced by ABF Creative, Inc. and is still available, where ever you listen to podcasts!
With six fabulous stories and an original poem, the groundbreaking podcast is based on the seven principles of Kwanzaa. It is non political, non religious and a timeless educational - entertaining audio program, based on African American culture.
Thanks to Anthony, I didn't dumb down my greatness! Check out Anthony's book "Don't Dumb Down Your Greatness" at a bookstore near you.
